Blog Case Study – Colossal

Colossal is a blog that explores all forms of art and visual culture. It showcases the of work artists from all over the world in a variety of fields including photography, street art, painting and graphic design.

As a photographer, I love to surround myself with creative visuals and work by other artists. Colossal allows me to see a snapshot into the world of creatives from a vast range of visual mediums, that somehow all tie together in a cohesive blog. I find the blog incredibly inspiring, thought-provoking and it constantly makes me want to explore my craft and better myself.

It works well because it gives a sense of community and belonging to people from every form of art, where one kind of work is not better than another. While it doesn’t allow you to leave any form of commentary on the posts, it gives you a huge range of options to share with your own personal social media network.

While Colossal have their blog which where all the content is shared, they also heavily use social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr) to share their posts. You can also sign up for a weekly email from them and use RSS if you would like. They use all of these different websites to attract their audience, allowing their readers to share content from any of these platforms with ease.
